The Host Organizer, Guangzhou Disabled Persons' Federation, is a unified organization for people with disabilities in the area of Guangzhou. Established in February 1989, the Federation aims to promote humanities, safeguard the rights and benefits of people with disabilities, develop their career, facilitate their participation in social life on an equal footing, and share the fruits of social material and cultural development. The Federation fulfills three functions of ¡°representing, serving and managing¡±: representing the mutual benefits of people with disabilities and safeguarding their legal rights; unifying, educating people with disabilities and serving for them; fulfilling the obligations granted by the government, managing and developing the career for people with disabilities. The organizations that directly serve under the Federation include: Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities, Labor and Employment Service Center for People with Disabilities, Olympic Sports Center for People with Disabilities, Service and Delivery Center of Assistive Devices, Zhanneng Vocational Training Center for The Disabled, Vocational Training Center, Research & Rehab. Center for Children with ASD, Rehabilitation and Experimental School, Farn and Orchard for Psychopathic Rehabilitants, Vocational Training School, and Nursing House for People with Disabilities, etc.
The Co-Organizer, Guangzhou Association of Women with Disabilities, is a commonalities organization of women with disabilities in Guangzhou. It is a registered corporate association established in Sep 2006, after 2 years¡¯ well preparation starting from 2004. With Guangzhou Disabled Persons' Federation as its higher managing department, the Association runs daily operations by a council elected by its representing members. The Association¡¯s mission is to encourage women with disabilities to leverage their potentials, and support them to live independently; to reflect women with disabilities¡¯ aspirations, and safeguard their legal rights; to promote social careness and strive equal opportunities for women with disabilities to community participation; to develop friendly exchange with similar organizations at home and overseas.
